E4tech is currently implementing the Efficient Firewood Utilization in Households in Serbia component of the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI) programme “Development of a Sustainable Bioenergy Market in Serbia” for the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ). The project, which we run in consortium with Serbian engineering firm Quiddita, aims to enhance the efficiency of firewood use and wood-based heating and cooking technologies in households in selected pilot regions. To promote these objectives E4tech will run an awareness raising campaign during the heating season which has just started. Amongst others it will include workshops in municipalities and schools, and appearances in local media. On 8 October the campaign was launched at the Media Center Belgrade by E4tech Team Leader Milica Vukadinović and Prof.dr Branko Glavonjić, a Serbian biomass expert. In addition to promoting the project, the capacity building workshops that will be held in the pilot regions this autumn, key results of the previously conducted assessment of the utilization of firewood and other wood fuels were presented. The Efficient Firewood Utilization in Households in Serbia component will run until November 2016.
