Stefano has an engineering and research background, with a focus on thermochemical biorefineries for the production of fuels and chemicals.
Stefano’s main expertise lies in biomass thermochemical conversion processes, including pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction and gasification. Prior to joining E4tech, Stefano collaborated as a PhD student in the RE-CORD consortium (Florence, Italy) on hydrothermal liquefaction of wet biomass streams. He also collaborated with the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL, Colorado, USA), investigating several technologies for the development of fast pyrolysis biorefineries for the conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to fuels and chemicals. In addition, he previously worked at the Université de Sherbrooke (Quebec, Canada) on the valorization of gasification residues from an industrial plant. Stefano holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, a MSc in Energy Engineering and a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florence. His strong technical background provides strong problem-solving, analytical and practical skills useful across several areas of E4tech activity.
