A one day EPS conference ‘From Diesel to Zero: Developing the Potential of Zero Emission Trains’ is being organised by European Policy Solutions (EPS) and CMB Revolve Technologies:
Date: Thursday 26th September 2019
Venue: Manchester Conference Centre, Sackville Street, Manchester M1 3BB
This EPS event is a follow-up to their very well attended EPS train conference which was held in Edinburgh in May 2018. The 2019 edition will discuss recent activity in the development of zero emission trains, looking specifically at the progress in the development of hydrogen and battery electric trains. In 2018, the UK Government made a commitment to remove diesel only passenger trains from the network by 2040. In July 2019, the Railway Safety and Standards Board published a report to achieve this objective based around a study carried out by E4tech in collaboration with BAe Systems and the Universities of Birmingham and Huddersfield. This Conference will look at the recent progress in development of hydrogen fuel and battery electric trains in the UK such as the Breeze and HydroFLEX hydrogen fuel cell retrofit passenger trains. The Conference will also look at recent policy developments in the European Union including the strategy of the German Federal Government and the FCH-JU/Shift2 Rail Study on the Market Potential of Hydrogen Trains.
E4tech’s, Tom Houghton, will be presenting on the work for RSSB and the prospects for zero emission freight.
