Mladen has extensive experience in the area of sustainable chemicals and bioenergy gained through years of working for international companies across chemicals, petrochemicals, energy and life sciences. He has a deep understanding of innovation, technology implementation, policies, markets and value chains of the chemical and biochemical industries. Mladen has led numerous techno-economic assessments and has provided business advisory services to private and public organisations, helping them overcome challenges related to technology deployment and commercialisation. He has been successful delivering international and cross-functional projects through positive engagement of stakeholders and beneficiaries. Mladen also has hands-on experience with design, development and construction of large industrial facilities as well as development of energy efficiency programs and low-carbon solutions for industry.
Prior to joining E4tech, Mladen worked as an independent consultant in the chemical and energy industries, primarily focusing on improving economic viability and market uptake of new and emerging technologies. He also served as an advisor and evaluator of several research and innovation projects and programmes (e.g. Horizon2020) funded by European Commission. From 2004 to 2011 Mladen worked as a Senior Researcher in the R&D centres of DSM and Unilever in The Netherlands. This included four months spent in Guatemala with the local UN World Food Programme office working on strategic projects related to food security and eradication of chronic malnutrition. Mladen holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Belgrade, Serbia, and a PDEng from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. Mladen is fluent in English, Spanish and Serbo-Croatian, and has intermediate Dutch.
